Ministry of Health Confirms No Zika Virus Case in Indonesia

Jakarta (Greeners) – Ministry of Health clarifies the death of Inka Wardhana, Louis Vuitton Indonesia chief, is not caused by Zika virus.

Head of Communication and Public Service Oscar Primadi said that the examination on Zika virus was only authorised through two laboratories, thr ministry’s Research and Development Center and Eijkman Biomolecular Foundation.

“There are no positive results of Zika virus from both labs in 2016,” he said in an official press release to Greeners in Jakarta,on Saturday (30/01).

Nevertheless, the ministry encourages people to be active in preventing the virus to spread by avoiding Aedes Aegypti mosquitoes with Clean, Close, and Contain movement.

People also asked to monitor the mosquito and increase body immunity through clean and health lifestyle.

Zika virus is a family of dengue fever with similar symptoms but lighter as it does not cause bleeding.

The bleeding in dengue fever usually ends up in death meanwhile Zika does not lead to death but deformity.

“Awareness needs to be increased for this virus, especially rainy season. The virus usually brought by Aedes Aegypti and always increases through mid rainy season between January and February,” he said.
